  1. I studied abroad last semester, and I have to say that I disagree with most of what Kristen has said. You CAN find nice hostels, but the rooms are usually up to 50 euro a night. Compared to a hotel this isn’t so bad, but the cost adds up if you are constantly traveling. I have stayed in hostels were I could never sleep and where individuals have set off their alarms at 4am or been extra loud. Multiple hostels. If you stay in a room with 6 people or less you don’t have a problem, but these rooms can be pricy. I never use lockers at hostels and have never had anything stolen. Most hostels are pretty dirty, not going to lie. It’s creepy when there are older people in your hostel room. I felt creeped out to share large rooms with middle aged men and I will never stay in a large room again because of this. Once when I stayed in a large room with shower a man was singing in the shower at 5am and I could not sleep because of it. Honestly, I would recommend getting an apartment over a hostel any day.

    • Everyone has their own experiences in travel and I’ve definitely had my hair share of “not-so-awesome” hostel stays too, but there will always be a chance no matter what type of accommodation you stay in. I think, at the end of the day, when being able to afford a hotel room as a solo traveler or budget traveler is not an option, there’s a lot to consider when deciding on a hostel. They’re not 5 star, but they’re definitely not terrible. Sometimes you get what you pay for- but then again, travel isn’t always just about good experiences. I think the best aspect of staying in hostel is getting to meet fellow travelers.

Hostels are the only thing I look for, being alone in a luxury cocoon is no fun. I’ve found the only things that I don’t like are cold AC & noisy types.Noisy bars downstairs & nearby are also a pain but meeting new people sometimes
    life-time friends beats every negative.

🦜 Nature & Wildlife Adventures

Costa Rica never disappoints when it comes to nature, but this trip was next-level. We took a private boat tour with @nolimitadventurescr and the kids are still talking about it. We spotted turtles gliding through the water, discovered remote beaches, and even squeezed in some tubing—pure magic for the little ones and the grown-ups alike.

We’re already counting the days until we come back. ✨ If you’re looking for a luxury family-friendly getaway in Costa Rica, this is your spot!

A huge thank you to @waldorfastoriacostarica for hosting us on this sunshine-soaked getaway!

I found foodie paradise… and it’s in New England 🦞🍩🍺

More specifically, Portland, Maine!

Last fall I took a roundtrip around New England for some leaf peeping, fall frolicking, and most importantly, for all of the eats. And while there are a LOT of incredible places to eat around New England, it’s Portland that has some of the absolute best foods.

From sweet potato donuts to fries made in duck fat to some of the best oysters I’ve ever had, this place is literally heaven.

Some of our fav spots:

If you want even MORE of the best local food spots around all of New England, I’ve compiled an extensive guide.

Let me know if you want the MAP and I’ll be sure to send it your way!
