Thailand isn’t safe! I’m Singaporean and many of us travel to Bangkok and other parts of Thailand frequently, and even though nothing bad has happened to me when I was there alone, i wouldn’t say Thailand is a safe place! Sorry, but caucasians are even more of a target in Thailand. There has been reports of many crimes over the years.
No offence, but just because nothing bad happened to you in Thailand and Bali, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re safe?

I’ve been to places like Paris, London, Prague, Budapest, Krakow on my own (Paris and London a couple of times) and nothing bad has ever happened to me, even though I’ve been out till the wee hours in some of these places. Still, i wouldn’t say they’re safe!

It’s a good thing you’ve been lucky and I hope it stays that way for you. I just would like to let people know that Thailand shouldnt be considered one of the “safest destinations” for a solo female traveller….

I think Thailand is safe. Now, if this listed had included India, then you would have an argument.

I spent a month travelling around India a couple of years ago. I’m in my 50s and have traveled by myself quite a bit over the years. I was careful but had no problems. And although I generally hate tours I did take a bus tour around Rajasthan for 10 days. I used a local tour company (Kesari) and was the only non-Indian on the bus. It was a blast.

        • That’s so amazing! Thanks for sharing the inspiration!

Awesome blog! As a fellow solo female traveler who is currently planning her next 3month adventure, your blog has given me some pretty good ideas and I thank you for that!

About Thailand though. Unfortunately, I was robbed by a cab driver in Bangkok last year. Basically he pretended that the cab was having engine trouble so he had to stop at the side of the road. Before I could even gather my thoughts on what was happening, he had already pointed a knife at me and was demanding that I give him my stuff. When I got to the police station the officer told me that a lot of similar cases have been happening lately, specially to foreigners, and that traveling alone in Bangkok may not be the safest idea. I also have two other friends who had similar experiences and they weren’t even traveling alone. Of course all of these happened solely in the city of Bangkok so I cannot attest to the safety of other places in Thailand.

Not to say that Thailand is not a beautiful country. I think it definitely should be in every travelers list. However, unlike the other places you mentioned, I think solo travelers should definitely be more cautious when traveling in Bangkok. As someone who has traveled extensively in and who lives somewhere in Southeast Asia I have noticed that this should also be the case in many of it’s major cities.

Nevertheless, I loved your post and I’m looking forward to reading more from you 😀

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).

This isn’t a hotel.
It isn’t a resort.
It’s ONE vacation home — and it might be the most epic one I’ve ever stayed in. 🤯

We stayed at @lazyriverresort in Palm Springs with 4 families and 11 kids — and I can confidently say this is the ultimate group vacation house. From morning lazy-river floats to arcade tournaments to movie nights, you truly won’t hear “I’m bored” even once. (Parents… you know how big that is. 😅)

This place is a private mega-estate designed for groups that want to actually stay together — without sacrificing space, comfort, or fun:
 ✔️ Sleeps a massive group (25+)
✔️ Iconic bunk room with 8 queen beds
✔️ Private lazy river + water slides
✔️ Full arcade + movie theater

It’s perfect for all kinds of groups — the ultimate setup for birthdays, reunions, bachelorettes, retreats, or those long-overdue “let’s all finally travel together” trips.

And the cherry on top? The @staywandery concierge service. They helped us coordinate an in-home hibachi dinner night (yes, comedic chef + fire + kids losing their minds). They can arrange everything for your visit from private chefs to photographers to yoga instructors — making group travel easier and more memorable. ✨

It’s the kind of place where you don’t need a packed itinerary — the experience is the house.

Tag your group — this is the trip you’ll be talking about for years!
